AFTERMATH: THREE DISMASTED LIGHTNINGS AND A MOTOR BOAT TRYING TO CLIMB INTO THE BENTS’ BOATHOUSE

The damage was, to put it mildly, extensive. Locally, boats were wrecked, sunk, or simply blown out to sea. Power outages complicated most people’s lives. Thanks to Russ Smith we know that the motor boat shown above was the Migraine, owned by Dr. Vance. There is still a scar in the marsh from the keel and the props.

We know people have stories; we have heard some. There will be photos in albums or a desk drawer somewhere.

Please send your stories to the Annisquam Historical Society, attention Holly Clay (holly.yanayoga@gmail.com) or speak to either Bob Cunningham or Betsey Horovitz about any photographs you may have. As of now, the two images shown above are all that we have of Hurricane Carol.
